About us

Heartwood Violins is a European-based dealer specialising in fine violins and bows. Our work is rooted in the traditions of European instrument making, guided by expertise, discernment and long-term perspective. We connect instruments of historical and artistic significance with musicians, collectors and connoisseurs worldwide.

Rather than assembling volume, we focus on selection — identifying instruments distinguished by craftsmanship, character and enduring musical value.

Mission and vision

Our mission is to identify, present and connect fine violins and bows with an international audience of musicians and collectors, highlighting instruments that embody craftsmanship, historical integrity and musical character.

Our vision is to contribute to the continuity of European instrument-making traditions by fostering a considered approach to selection, preservation and long-term cultural significance. We aim to position each instrument not merely as an object, but as part of an ongoing lineage of craftsmanship and musical expression.

What we offer

We present a collection of fine violins and bows sourced from Europe and other established centres of instrument making. Each instrument is selected for its musical quality, craftsmanship and historical context.

Our collection includes full-size violins (4/4) as well as fractional instruments such as 3/4, alongside a carefully selected range of bows for violin, viola and cello. The selection spans refined workshop instruments to master-made pieces, reflecting different traditions, periods and levels of craftsmanship.

Due to our selective approach, the collection is continually evolving, with instruments entering and leaving over time.

Approach and values

Craftsmanship, historical integrity and musical character guide every aspect of our work. Each instrument is approached with respect for its origin, materials and tradition, with an emphasis on quality, transparency and long-term significance.

Discretion and long-term perspective

Fine instruments often carry historical, artistic and personal significance beyond their material value. For this reason, enquiries and transactions are handled with care and discretion, recognising the individual nature of each instrument and its owner.
